Winter in Morzine
Whatever you choose to do on your winter holiday you are sure to find a huge range of activities across the Morzine area. From relaxing, to full on adrenaline there is something for everyone, every ability and every age.
Skiing & snowboarding The main draw for people coming to Morzine in winter is, of course, the skiing and snowboarding. The Portes du Soleil area is vast, with 650km of pistes spread across 13 different ski resorts in France and Switzerland. There are 286 pistes and 30 snowparks all accessed by around 200 ski lifts. Cross-country Skiing also offers 216 km of tranquil cross-country trails. And, if you’ve still got energy, Night skiing takes place on the Pleney piste in Morzine every Thursday, weather permitting.
Ski-touring Morzine is popular for ski touring, whether it's going up the pistes that most people normally ski down, or tackling more of a backcountry route
Raquette à Neige or Snow-shoeing in and around Morzine is a perfect activity for bad weather conditions or for non-skiers. Winter Walking Morzine is a winter walker's paradise, with lifts giving access to the higher ground and a network of groomed trails in the winter, it's very easy to discover the resort on foot
Ice-skating & Ice hockey There are many outdoor ice rinks around the resorts which are easily accessible. There is also the indoor ice rink at the Palais de Sport where you can public skate during certain hours and its also a great place to watch the Local Ice hockey matches.
Horse-drawn sleigh rides
Husky-dog rides Be in charge of your own sled and team of excitable husky dogs, driving them along forest paths in winter
Ice-climbing for the true mountain enthusiast, why not scale an amazing frozen waterfall or glacier? This is a fantastic sport, not just for experienced mountaineers
Ice-diving You can try a completely unique experience in Morzine, ice diving. Plunge into the icy cold waters of Lac Montriond and experience the thrill of diving under the icy layers above.
Swimming Great fun for all the family. In Morzine, head to Parc des Dereches where you can enjoy two indoor heated pools (a 25x15m and a 12.5x10m teaching pool) as well as a 50m2 paddling pool all year round. There is also a large 160m2 spa area with saunas and Turkish baths, as well as a relaxation area with loungers
If you need to set your sights a little higher into the clouds, then Paragliding / Parapenting is a great experience. If you’ve never tried paragliding before then Avoriaz is a great place to learn how to fly. Known as “parapenting” in France. Helicopter tours are also available so you can sit back and admire the mountains from even higher up.

Swimming A whole outdoor swimming complex including a heated Olympic pool, a teaching pool, a paddling pool with water games and an 80m waterslide . Alternatively make use of the beautiful lakes in the area with a chance to pack up a picnic and swim in natural mountain waters.

Horse-riding The Portes du Soleil offers a wide expanse of spectacular terrain on which you can saddle up and go exploring

If you need to set sights a bit higher, there are Tree-top / Forest adventures the Via Ferrata, Rock-climbing, Paragliding / Parapenting and even Helicopter tours

Lake Leman of Geneva is literally 45 minutes by car and there are an abundance of water based activities available, from sailing, boat hire, paddle boarding, lake swimming, pool swimming and much more
